Apretan
Applicable to cottons and all textures in woven and knit fabrics, apretan is used for filling the gaps between knots. With this method, through soaking, gaps in the fabric will be filled. The soaking method ensures ease of transfer for apretan substance. Apretan , which is a textile substance, has two separate functions which consist of softening and keeping hard. It fills the gaps both to soften the fabrics and to keep them hard.
This module is covered also in national education curriculum as a material of education. It is provided by the Ministry of National Education free of charge. This softening substance is applied to textile substances in order to provide them with a soft handle. It is definitely chemical. Therefore, it requires careful use. At the same time, apretan substance is developed in a way to damage the digestive system of moths. Thus, the fabrics it is applied to are not harmed by moths as much. A finishing operation is applied to fabric dyeing processes as well. When the dyeing process is completed for the fabric, the softening process begins. This is realized with the aforementioned substance. Regarding the machinery operating with soaking method, it is a single-featured substance applied in thread washing machines or foulard system. In factory machinery, this substance is generally dispatched to finishing machines so that the fabric attains softness after dyeing.
This multi-featured substance is frequently used by factories and tailors. It softens the fabric and enables the adhesion of little gaps. It facilitates the work of women and textile factories. Therefore, it is an indispensable textile product. Since it is chemical, it may hurt the hands. However, usually, it is used in large machines in factories.
